About Us

The Eastern Alberta Regional Victim Serving Society (EARVSS) is a non-profit organization that receives and utilizes government funding for victim services units in 24 Eastern Alberta communities.

Our mission and vision

EARVSS exists to empower and support individuals and families who experience crime and extreme tragedy through compassionate advocacy, timely assistance, and professional services that promote healing, restore dignity, and help individuals reclaim their power.
 

Our vision is to ensure victims of crime and tragedy can access the supports and information they need to enhance their safety, empower themselves, and restore their well-being.

Meet
With victims of crime and/or tragedy as an essential service responder, with or without volunteer assistance.

Mitigate
On behalf of their clients, mitigate the immediate aftereffects of an event (e.g., provide empathy, a blanket, etc.).

Refer
As a warm handoff, clients to appropriate government, non-government, community, and professional resources and supports.

Accompany
Clients through the ensuing criminal justice system process, from the initial police investigation, through pre-trial, criminal prosecution, and sentencing.

Coordinate
A local team of volunteers

Engage
With their local communities at events such as parades, farmer’s markets, job fairs, pow-wows, etc.
